Tartu
Rural Fair has during ten years become the biggest fair introducing
different aspects of rural economy in Estonia. Tartu Rural Fair
has achieved popularity not only among country people but has also
won more and more hearts of the city people because besides agriculture
and forestry the fair also introduces gardening and food production.
The reputation of Tartu Rural Fair has spread outside Estonia. In 2001 161 companies from nine countries introduced themselves to the visitors of the fair. The fair also gave a chance for discussion - 25 seminars covering very different topics took place. I believe that each and every one of 20,120 visitors found something interesting for themselves and will come to the next fair as well.
Such fairs give the best opportunity to get together groups dealing with different kinds of rural economy - producers of implements, farmers and foresters, amateur gardeners, food production industries, consumers. Tartu Rural Fair has won its place in the calendar of European fairs. The organisers and participants of the fair have good will to secure this place by continuously making the fair more varied.
