Maamess 2008 ended

successfully!

Altogether 214 firms representing eleven countries – Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Belgium, Austria and Belarus -  took part in the Premier Rural Fair MAAMESS 2008 held between 17 and 19 April in the fairs centre of Tartu Näitused Ltd. The Fair had at its disposal 5100 m² hall area, 44 420 m² open-air territory and 6 hectares timber technique demonstration territory.

The fair was declared open by Helir-Valdor Seeder, Minister of Agriculture. On Friday visited the fair Ene Ergma, the President of Parlament, Mart Laar, the Chairman of the IRL Parlamentary Group Pro Patria and Res Publica Union (IRL) and Mart Nutt, Tiina Oraste, Marko Pomerants and Toomas Tõniste, members of the Parlament.

Despite the rainy beginning there were altogether 29,058 visitors on three days. This is the record number of visitors ever. On Thursday, we had 7,264, on Friday 11,492 and on Saturday 10,302 visitors. We are glad to see that the keen interest of foreign tourists has grown year by year, which was vividly demonstrated by the impressive number of bus excursions and different languages on the territory.

For the first time the bulls auction took place. In addition to being exposed to the products of various firms, entrepreneurs, and farmers, the interested visitor had a chance to attend many seminars and interesting demonstrations.

We greatly acknowledge the outstanding work of all participants who provided the exhibits and thereby helped us to make MAAMESS 2008 an engaging event for both Estonian and foreign visitors. A big thank you to all the participants, visitors and the Press!

Next year’s MAAMESS 2009 will be held between 23 and 25 of April! Naturally, You are all cordially invited. If You have any fine ideas or proposals, please send them to aare@tartunaitused.ee.

We are pleased to invite you to the sixteenth MAAMESS a fair that takes place in vernal Tartu and has become the most renowned fair in the Baltic States and also excited interest on European level.
MAAMESS 2008 combines honourable traditions with practical innovations provided by our rapidly developing economic environment.
MAAMESS is the member of EURASCO (The European Federation of Agricultural Exhibitions and Show Organisers) and it has been entered in the calendar of major similar fairs held in Europe.
Fair introduces multiple facets of rural economy and brings together farmers and foresters, managers, engineers and scientists, machinery and equipment vendors, processors of agricultural produce, wood-processing companies, manufacturers of farming produce, gardeners, consumers, etc. The purpose of the fair is to demonstrate new and exciting products and technologies to the interested parties and combine this demonstration with show elements.
This year Maamess shall introduce economic and nature-friendly equipment and technologies, because our key to the future is living in harmony with our natural environment instead of unilateral consumption at the expense of environment.
MAAMESS 2008 shall be the venue of demonstration of timber technique, telescope loaders show, stand-competition of felling and lopping, exhibition of pets and breeding animals, introduction of Estonian farm food, demonstration of gardening tools, seeds and plants...
We believe that due to interesting exhibits and best efforts of organisers this fair will be successful and memorable for our visitors and will provide them with practical knowledge along with the joy of exploring.
